What a wonderful day …

What a wonderful day …

Summary:

On the first day of the year when most people of our age were discussing “how cool was the party last night”

On the first day of the year, when most people of our age were discussing “How cool was the party last night” some were trying their best to find relief for their hangovers, and some were planning a fun-filled Sunday. Of course, a lot was also sulking over their hastily thought-out New year resolutions, which they could not stick to on even the first day of the year and the remaining going on with their business, as usual. Meanwhile, I had the pleasure of attending the first meetup of our book club, and what a wonderful day it became.

Ideas ranging from:
• the importance of resolutions to being realistic
• the resolution of doing more than what one did in the last year
• the resolution of starting to work towards your goals anytime without waiting for a particular date/day for success
• insights about the importance of a to-do list in life
• personal resolutions to be followed with vigor for betterment or just simple satisfaction
• reservation with the idea of resolutions
• committing to lifelong goals instead of taking short-term resolutions,
provide understanding about how different same-looking people are and how diverse the thoughts various people have on the same subject.
Apart from this, the discussion swayed away from the topic to get back on track after presenting at least one new thing about something every time.

The now alienated but fabulous idea of sometimes writing letters to your close ones just like people used to do in the past, to express how you feel, how they make your life better, expressing your gratitude, your regret, your apologies or sending someone flowers for doing the same, especially to men – to fathers, to brothers, to uncles, to friends, who we often take granted and never show them love and respect they deserve.

This idea of life gives a reality check about how badly we have forgotten the good’ol ways and succumbed to the digital poison without giving a second thought to the thought that we need a digital detox to a limit.

It may not be the kind of party that many youngsters would want to join at the beginning of a year because of the prevailing calm and peace in the environment during the discussions and the abundance of the flow of knowledge that people don’t care about in these times of general aloofness but in fact, it should become the commitment of one’s life in the form of may be a new year resolution which not only will help them learn a lot about the diversity in human minds but also make them aware about the daily events occurring in their surroundings.

I hope, motivated by the idea, someday in the very near future I will also write a letter or send flowers to someone and also at the same time hope that one day will come when most people become a part of some initiative like the one I have become a part of and say at the beginning of the year after the first meetup of the book club.

  • Wonderful start to 2023. You should continue writing blogs you are pretty good at it.😄

  • How wonderful to read your thoughts and reflection like this. I think this is a pattern a lot of us would fit into. In our teens, early to mid 20s, most of us wanted to be part of the cool kid flow and we did enjoy that. But with more experience in life, in our late 20s or early 30s or later in life, we realise what gives us peace, calm and happiness and we tend to move towards that.

  • Greatly written, what a perfect start to new year !
I very much liked to celebrate my new year, the same , If I got the chance.
